I'm walking 100km for shabba
This is Shabba, my sister in law, my little brothers wife and Mummy to my 7 year old nephew Jackson.
What seemed to be light at the end of the tunnel in 2023 after finishing her 9th round of chemo treatment things were finally starting to look up. However, in June of 2024, she was given the news that the cancer had returned to stage 4 incurable breast cancer.
In April 2026 we received the news that the cancer has now spread to Shabba’s liver, and there is also a small spot on her lung. As a family we are utterly devastated.
Despite this, Shabba is continuing to fight with everything she has. And is currently looking into further treatment options, including therapies abroad—there are a few possibilities in Turkey, Germany, and America—as well as additional support here in the UK, in the hope of slowing things down and gaining more precious time with her family.
Alongside this, she also facing the possibility of redundancy at the end of May, which adds another layer of uncertainty at an already overwhelming time.
So I am doing the only thing I know how...
On Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September I am walking 100km along the South Coast of England.
53km on the first day, an overnight camp (I bloody hate camping) and 47km on the second day.
Yes I am fit.
Yes I am strong.
But I have never walked for up to 14 hours a day without my Spaniel pulling me along for the ride.
